Make appointments

In West Virginia, appointments are available for CDL road tests, but not for non-commercial driving tests. Skill tests for CDL applicants need to be scheduled with prior appointment by contacting a W VA third-party examiner at (304) 842-1608.

Find the office you need

  • Regional Offices administrate issues concerning titles, registration, licenses, commercial licenses, non-driver IDs, permits and more. This is the place to schedule your vision, knowledge and road tests. Keep in mind that road tests may also be taken at the exam centers in Fairmont and Wheeling. All Regional Offices, except the main one in Kanawha City, are open Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-5:00 pm. The Kanawha City Regional Office is open Monday-Friday, 8:00 am-6:00 pm and Saturday, 8:00 am-12:00 pm.
  • Exam Centers provide knowledge and road testing services. The Fairmont Exam Centre is open from 9:30 am-5:00 pm, Monday-Wednesday, and on all Fridays, except the first Friday of the month. The Wheeling Exam Centre is only open on Wednesdays from 9:30 am-4:30 pm. Motorcycle road tests are available only at the Fairmont Exam Centre, but they need to be scheduled first.

Important: Keep in mind that the driver testing times in regional offices vary. Make sure you call your preferred office before visiting in person. Regional offices are closed on DMV approved holidays.
